Reedbed filters - Humid biotopes
Reed bed filters are an ecological solution for wastewater treatment. The wastewater permeate vertically or horizontally through the basins filled with lava sand. The basins are filled with marsch plants: Reed (Phragmites Communis ou Phragmites Australis), iris, etc. The roots of these wetland plants form a structure that the filtered permeate drain to the outlet, provides sufficient oxygen and a structure for the growth of aerobic bacteria. These bacteria degrade the organic pollution and make it assimilable for the wetland plants.
The use of reed bed filters has multiple advantages:
- From 5 PE on, every size of installation can be designed
- Excellent purification performance
- An ecological and sustainable solution
- Lifetime: Our installations maintain their excellent purification performances even after 20 years
- Ability to cope with strong variations in wastewater load and pollution
- Limited and easy maintenance
- Low operational costs
- An aesthetic solution
